One of the challenges found in many renewables projects relates to connections and grid issues. For one major wind project in Victoria, this was the case for the EPC.

As the project progressed it suffered a number of significant items of scope creep leading to unpaid variations and a major EoT matter due to connection and grid issues. The result meant the EPC faced significant delay damages due to Principal-caused delays.

Accura expert: Paul McArd

Accura Consulting has a reputation and deep experience in supporting renewables projects and was subsequently appointed by the EPC’s CEO to provide a recovery position with regard to the scope creep items and the delay.

Accura Consulting provided a tailored contractual solution that provided the EPC with a robust and factual based argument based on the contract, scope and specifications.

This argument was built upon further by forensic analysis of the variations. A detailed delay analysis was also produced allowing all parties to clearly understand the culpability of delays.

Once the claim progressed, Accura Consulting devised a claims strategy and a full-time contract management consultant was embedded into the EPC team to ensure all contractual rights were captured and the claims strategy was adhered to.
